Quarried out of the natural bedrock and designed by architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen, Temppeliaukio Church opened in 1969. Its spectacular atmosphere, unique architecture and excellent acoustics make it one of the most popular attractions in Helsinki. The church is part of the Töölö parish, and its copper-domed interiors are a popular venue for wedding and christening ceremonies and concerts.
